Federal regulators want you to know all your options before filing bankruptcy. As a result, they require all who are considering bankruptcy to receive pre-bankruptcy counseling within six months of filing.
Executive Office for U.S. Trustees (EOUST)to issue certificates of credit counseling in compliance with the Bankruptcy Codes of California, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
one-on-one pre-bankruptcy credit counseling session takes about an hour. At the end of the counseling session, the counselor will provide you with a certificate confirming your participation and completion of the pre-bankruptcy counseling session. This certificate will enable you to complete the bankruptcy process. With this information we create an accurate and detailed monthly budget that captures your overall financial situation.
